Medical or surgical treatment for sinusitis
Sinusitis causes a blocked or runny nose, facial pressure, headache and reduced smell. After examination, often with a nasal endoscopy, the doctor treats it with medicines, nasal sprays or saline rinses. A scan may be advised when symptoms keep returning. Surgery is considered only when medical treatment has not helped. Follow-up visits check that the sinuses have cleared.
